Therapy for when you need more calm in your life.

What it can feel like to have Anxiety

Your brain never turns off.

It feels like it’s always going.

Sometimes that’s a good thing.  It helps you juggle a bunch of different things, like caring for your family, managing the household, & building your career.

It feels like your constantly-moving-mind never misses a step…until it’s moving too fast and you can’t focus on anything.  Or you get stuck in a loop of thinking only about stress, fears, and worry.

it feels like you’re in a spiral that you can’t escape from.

When that happens, it feels like you’re in a spiral that you can’t escape from.  You can’t stop the thoughts from firing one after another.

You try to distract yourself but it only works for a little while and then those fears are right back in the forefront of your mind.  You can’t relax or sleep and if you stop moving – it feels like everything will fall apart.

You end up feeling on edge and overwhelmed

Your only escape is doom scrolling on your phone – just staring at the screen, swiping over and over again. You want so desperately to be able to rest and turn off your mind, but you’re trapped in this world of never ending worry.

Anxiety Often Has Deeper Roots

Anxiety is not a personal failure or weakness. Often, anxiety develops as a response to chronic stress, painful life experiences, perfectionism, people-pleasing patterns, or growing up in environments where you didn’t feel emotionally safe. Your nervous system may have learned to stay alert in order to protect you.

Therapy can help you understand not just how anxiety feels – but why it happens and what keeps the cycle going.

When things get the worst,

do you become really hard on yourself?

Saying things like…

Do you catch yourself thinking…

Working way more hours that you want to, and/or helping coworkers who are struggling.

At the end of the day, you just want to be a good partner, parent, co-worker, or employee.  But the weight of it all is starting to press down on you.  It feels like you’re on a slowly sinking ship, and everyone else took the life rafts. You’re alone and you know that things are not headed in a good direction.

About Online Anxiety Therapy

Everyone experiences stress, worry, or overwhelm from time to time.  Therapy can help to get through these difficult times.  Some people deal with an anxiety disorder that is characterized by persistent feelings of worry, dread, and panic that disrupt their ability to do the activities of daily life.  Usually these feelings begin in childhood or the teen years.  The symptoms include:

  • Feeling nervous, restless or tense
  • Having a sense of impending danger, panic or doom
  • Rapid heartbeat
  • Rapid breathing (hyperventilation)
  • Sweating
  • Trembling
  • Feeling weak or tired
  • Having difficulty concentrating or thinking about anything other than the worry
  • Sleep disturbances
  • Gastrointestinal (GI) problems, headaches, body pain
  • Wanting to avoid things that trigger anxiety

Whether you deal with mild worries or an anxiety disorder, I’m here to help.

I work with adults experiencing many forms of anxiety, including generalized anxiety, chronic stress, overthinking, panic attacks, perfectionism, people-pleasing, health anxiety, and anxiety connected to trauma or difficult life experiences.

You can share with me about what you’re dealing with.  I will ask some questions to get clarity and understand the big picture of how anxiety fits in your story and how it’s impacting your day to day life.  I may recommend EMDR Therapy, Hypnotherapy, IFS, or a combination.  These therapies are evidence-based and research shows they reduce symptoms of anxiety.  Learn more about me and my approach to therapy: About Lindsey Gould.
